Nissan is gearing up for a major comeback in India’s automotive market, and its latest offering — the Nissan Gravite — is a key part of that strategy. Slated for an official unveiling in January 2026 and expected to hit showrooms by March 2026, the Gravite is a compact seven-seater MPV designed specifically with Indian families in mind.

    What Is the Nissan Gravite?

The Nissan Gravite is a sub-4-metre multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) based on the Renault–Nissan CMF-A+ platform, sharing its core architecture with the Renault Triber but featuring a distinct Nissan identity.

It’s positioned to be a value-focused family car, combining roomy interiors, flexible seating, and practical features — all at a competitive price point. As Nissan expands its product lineup in India, the Gravite marks a pivotal step toward reclaiming market share in the high-volume family segment.

    Design – Modern Yet Practical

Though full specifications aren’t out yet, early teasers show the Gravite adopting Nissan’s global design language with confident, modern styling.

     Design Highlights (Expected)

    • Signature C-shaped grille and Nissan’s bold front fascia
    • Muscular body and strong proportions
    • LED daytime running lamps and updated light signatures
    • Fresh alloy wheels and functional roof rails
    • Unique badging and hood graphics reinforced with Nissan’s branding focus

Despite its compact footprint, the Gravite is expected to look more refined and distinct compared with its platform sibling, giving it standout road presence.

    Interior – Family-Friendly & Flexible

One of the Gravite’s key strengths is its interior space and modular cabin layout — traits that Indian families value highly.

     Interior Expectations

    • Flexible seating for 5, 6, or 7 occupants
    • Smart modular seating — easy to adjust for passengers or cargo
    • Efficient use of cabin space with ample headroom and legroom
    • Modern features likely to include a digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system

These features make it practical for daily city use while also being comfortable enough for long family road trips.

    Engine & Performance

The Nissan Gravite is expected to use a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine — the same unit used in the Triber. It delivers around 72 bhp of power and 96 Nm of torque and is likely offered with a 5-speed manual and AMT transmission.

This reliable, fuel-efficient engine suits everyday commuting while keeping running costs affordable — a key requirement in the compact MPV segment.

Space & Practicality – Built for Indian Needs

Indian buyers often prioritise space and practicality, and the Gravite aims to deliver on both fronts.

    • Class-leading cabin modularity
    • Ample storage and smart cabin solutions
    • Flexible third-row seating that can be folded or removed to increase boot space

These traits make it ideal for families that need a versatile car for school runs, grocery hauling, weekend trips, and more.

Safety & Tech – What to Expect

While Nissan hasn’t released full safety details yet, the Gravite is expected to come equipped with essential modern safety features, possibly including:

    • ABS with EBD
    • Multiple airbags
    • Traction control and hill-hold assist
    • ISOFIX child mounts

Tech features like a touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, and digital displays are also expected in higher variants.

    Launch Timeline & Market Positioning

The Nissan Gravite will be unveiled in January 2026, with sales beginning around March 2026.

The MPV is expected to be priced attractively — likely around ₹5.49–₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom) — making it a strong competitor to models like the Renault Triber, Maruti Ertiga, and other compact MPVs in India.

Its launch is part of a broader strategy by Nissan to expand in India, with other new models like the Tekton SUV and a larger seven-seater SUV planned through 2027.
